In this picture Joe Moon and Robert’s sister, Marjorie Dickie , unveil the plaque that will grace the new dormitory.

Our first dormitory will bear the title “Casa Robert Dickie”. Robert is a much loved member of the St. Andrew’, Parry Sound, congregation who gives his all for the work of the church. No matter how menial the task Robert is more than willing to put his shoulder to the wheel!

Early this year Robert was struck down by an illness that robbed his body of all movement and he was on life support for several months. Never one to give up Robert fought valiantly as the congregation prayed for him. At one point his heartbroken parents asked the doctors permission to allow God’s will to prevail.

Shortly after they made that decision Rob’s health took a turn for the better. On April 12 the St. Andrew’s secretary, Karin Cowan wrote,“Rob Dickie - Praise the Lord, what a miracle He's worked in that guys life! Karl (Murch the St. Andrew’s Youth Pastor) was up to see him yesterday in Sudbury . . . Rob is up, in a wheel chair, talking away and thinks his memory is better now than it ever was! He sent Karl back with prayer requests! They are doing therapy with him so it's not clear if they’ll continue in Sudbury or if, when a room’s available here (Parry Sound), he’ll be transferred back, regardless Rob is definitely on the road to recovery! When things were so dark not that long ago, this is the best ‘Easter’ news for us here at St. Andrew's.”

“Lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children.” Lamentations 2:19

In an article, found in a magazine published by "Mujeres Hoy" (Mother’s Today) on the internet the following declaration was made:

Carlos Lõpez, a child rights activist, said that sexual crimes against boys and girls in Nicaragua in the past few years have increased alarmingly.According to the article, statistics have shown that close to 6000 children were sexually violated in one year. In 2002, 10,000 cases of abuse were reported, of which 6 thousand where sexually abused. Faced with these facts,Carlos Lõpez said: “We are in front of a serious social deterioration that in place of decreasing is on the increase”.

PAN seeks to connect churches, generally Presbyterian but other denominations too, with churches of various different denominations in Nicaragua.

The primary focus is to send a Canadian team to do a construction project, usually helping to build a church or Sunday school rooms. These Sunday school rooms often double as a regular day school. The teams raise enough funds to cover the cost of the construction as well as the cost of the teams.
